שינוי כיוון התנועה לא משפיע על גודלו וכיוונו של הכוח החשמלי , כל עוד הגוף נע במהירות קבועה שקול הכוחות הפועלים עליו שווה לאפס, הכוח החיצוני זהה בגודלו לכוח החשמלי והפוך לו בכיוונו.

הכוח החשמלי פועל בכיוון השדה נגד כיוון התנועה, לכן הכוח החיצוני פועל בכיוון התנועה.

נערוך תרשים כוחות לכוחות הפועלים על הגוף, בתנועתו מנקודה A לנקודה B:

מכיוון שאין שינוי באנרגיה הקינטית של הגוף, נחשב את עבודת הכוח החיצוני בתנועת הגוף מהנקודה A לנקודה B בעזרת ביטוי עבודת הכוח החיצוני:
