הגוף טעון במטען שלילי, לכן כיוון הכוח החשמלי הפועל עליו הוא ימינה, נגדי לכיוון השדה.

מכיוון שהגוף נע במהירות קבועה , מהחוק הראשון של ניוטון שקול הכוחות הפועלים על הגוף שווה לאפס.

לכן הכוח החיצוני זהה בגודלו לכוח החשמלי והפוך לו בכיוונו. הכוח החיצוני פועל שמאלה בכיוון התנועה.
